Nightsclaw WIP 04

This is Nightsclaw WIP 04. It's gonna be kinda difficult to see for now. I'm still starting to get all the color on there. It's really lightly colored right now because, well I've never colored something like this before in colored pencil. So since I looked at this piece and went, 'Hmmm... there's a lot of textures on here, I wonder how to color like there's texture.' I decided to look up tips and techniques online to help me color in this sucker. Here's a link to a nifty tutorial that really helped me the most. [link]

So you can see by that tutorial I've barely even started working on filling in the colors. This has been a lot slower than my other works because it's collaborative and takes time to get feedback from the other person. But it's been really good to work on a piece where I get to test and challenge myself. The color saturation might be a little off but that's mainly because the scanner is confused by all the light hues. Once I work things in darker it will come out better. The one thing I lack that I wish I had is a Prismacolor colorless blending pencil. I only have a 24 set of Prismacolors. Most of my supplies are in storage from when I moved.

I think ultimately I may paint in the silver chain because it's so fine I don't think I could use the various colored pencils I would need even at their sharpest to make that thing look silver with merely colored pencil.

Anyways, I'm enjoying working on this and will continue to update scan with my progress. Comments are welcome.
